5 Day Juice Cleanse

This is an extension of the 3-Day Juice Cleanse that was posted earlier this week. Cleansing is a great way to kickstart your way to better health! Give your body a break from caffeine, sugar, wheat, dairy, and alcohol so that you may establish new, healthier habits, renew your energy and detox your body with this invigorating 5-Day Cleanse!

Make sure to use fresh organic ingredients for your juice, to ensure that your juices contain no synthetic ingredients. This supplies the body with a concentrated batch of natural vitamins and minerals in their natural form. With the extra nutrition, your body’s performance will improve and more energy will be available. With all of this extra energy many people report wanting to exercise, which leads to clearer thinking, healthier emotional states & weight control (you may even sleep better too). As dis-ease thrives in bodies which are filled with toxins, bacteria and carcinogens, most of which are found in un-healthy food. To prevent dis-ease and effectively defend itself, the body requires a wide assortment of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. When you feel healthy, its natural to get more out of life. That is why I created this simple 5 Day Cleanse to liven up your life!!!

5 Day Energy Boost Juice Cleanse!

Day 1

  • Drink 48 ounces of fresh juice throughout the day.
  • Drink water. Drink half your body weight in ounces of water. (150 pound person would drink 75 ounces of water).
  • Fiber. Drink apple juice and 1 teaspoon fiber cleansing formula mixed with either 8 ounce of water and/or apple juice. Drink this twice a day.

They are high in vitamin C, B1, and G, as well as potassium. Lemons are ideal for removing toxins from the body, especially the liver.

During your cleansing process:

  • Take time to go for a 20 minute walk everyday.
  • Stretch and practice yoga.
  • Meditate
  • Dry Brush
  • Infrared Sauna
  • Take Detox Baths (I love bathing in Sole Water)
  • Get your Beauty Sleep
  • LOVE YOURSELF!!
  • Click here for symptoms of a detox and more loving ways you can help yourself through the process.

Please note: During a juice cleanse I generally don’t use tomatoes. Tomatoes are a great detoxifier but  they also upset calcium metabolism and should be avoided in cases of arthritis. Large amounts of tomatoes are weakening for everyone. So I like to enjoy them after a fast as they are easy to digest.

On this five day journey, try to free yourself of the past hurts and worries that continue to live with you. Let them float away. Journal or write letters (you don’t have to send them) to give yourself a regular outlet for your emotions, regrets, and worries. Don’t push them aside, harness them and move on as a smarter and lighter person.

After the 5 Day Juice Cleanse

If you would like to continue cleansing, check out the post on a 3 Day Cleanse! You can make this journey a nine day cleanse if you do the 3-Day Raw Food Cleanse before and after your 3-Day Juice Cleanse!

As you ease back into eating remember to take time, to be thankful for having food. Choose easily digestible foods like soups (my favorite is miso) and smoothies.

3 Day Cleanse

We are already into the second week of the New Year and I have some clients that are going to start a juice fast with me starting January 12th. Before a juice fast or if you wanted to to a whole body cleanse, it is important to start letting go of foods and simplify your diet. It is extremely important to prepare for your cleanse in order to have a safe and pleasant experience.

A 3 day cleanse will help you re-boot and give you more energy or prepare you for deeper cleansing like a juice fast. During your three day cleanse abstain from coffee, alcohol, meat, fried foods and white refined sugar and flour (sweets, breads, bagels, pasta, ect.)

During your 3-day cleanse

  • Drink plenty of water! Water is the principal chemical component of the body, comprising of about 70% of our body’s weight. It is important that we are all individually unique and require different amounts. A good rule of thumb is to drink half of your body’s weight in ounces of water everyday. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you would drink 75 ounces of water a day. NOTE: tea, juice, and other drinks are NOT substitutes for water! For more information on the healing benefits of water, click here.
  • Eat as much live (raw) food as possible … lots of delicious fresh fruits and vegetables!
  • Try to avoid beans, cabbage, nuts, broccoli and cauliflower as they may cause gas.

Daily Schedule

Breakfast Time:

Lunch Time:

Snacks: Only eat snacks when you are truly hungry.

Evening Meal:

The main thing is to keep it simple. Don’t over think it. Eat until you are full and then be done. Make sure to drink plenty of water.

In addition to a cleansing diet it is important to incorporate lifestyle practices that will help enhance the cleansing process both physically, mentally and spiritually.

  • Meditation/Prayer (this is my favorite)
  • Conscious Breathing
  • Journaling
  • Body Movement like walking, yoga, rebounding
  • Skin Care is also important, dry skin brushing, sunlight, infrared sauna
  • Sleep

You can do it! Grab a friend and do a 3-day cleanse! It will boost your energy, leaving you feeling great!

Love, peace, bliss,

Michelle

Miso Happy!

I love miso from South River Miso Company, It is simply magical and they even have both soy-free and gluten-free varieties that are simply divine!
The 10 scientifically researched benefits of eating miso
  1. Contains all essential amino acids, making it a complete protein. This in turn helps preserve beautiful skin – miso contains linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that helps your skin stay soft and free of pigments.
  2. Antiviral — Miso is very alkalizing and helps strengthen the immune system helping to combat viral infections.
  3. Restores beneficial probiotics to the intestines.
  4. Aids in digestion and assimilation of other foods in the intestines. This happens by stimulating the secretion of digestive fluids in the stomach.
  5. Helps maintain nutritional balance — full of nutrients beneficial bacteria and enzymes, miso provides protein vitamin B12, vitamin B2, vitamin E, vitamin K, tryptophan, choline, dietary fiber, linoleic acid and lecithin.
  6. Strengthens the quality of blood and lymph fluid.
  7. Reduces risk for breast, prostate, lung and colon cancers.
  8. Protects against radiation due to dipilocolonic acid, an alkaloid that chelates heavy metals and discharges them from the body.
  9. Strengthens the immune system and helps to lower LDL Cholesterol.
  10. Anti-Aging — high in antioxidants that protect against free radicals that cause signs of aging. Miso also helps reduce menopausal complaints because the isoflavones in the miso have been shown to reduce hot flashes.
As you can see, Miso is magical, it has a sweet, earthy, fruity, savory, and salty flavor that can be used in a variety of recipes.
Miso can be used as a dairy substitute in place of milk, butter and salt in creamed soups. Unpasteurized miso used in marinades tenderize meat and vegetables by helping to break down fibers. (I personally like it on asparagus). Use miso in a casserole or soup supplies plenty of high quality protein.
Sweet & Spicy Miso Soup:
  • 1 1/2 cups blessed water
  • 1 Tablespoon Miso (Today I used Garlic Red Pepper from South River Miso)
  • 1 Tablespoon Tahini
  • 1/2 medium onion, sauteed in a teaspoon of Garlic Red Pepper Miso & 1 teaspoon honey
  • Dash of cayenne
Sautee onion and any other veggies you desire. Heat water in pan. Add Miso and Tahini, stir. Add onion and dash of cayenne. Its also delicious with sea vegetables like cut up nori or wakame. Serve!

Many of you may notice that I use cayenne a lot. I do this because my body constitution is generally cold, and cayenne helps increase circulation. It is also known in many cultures to be a potent libido enhancing aid that increases euphoric endorphins in the blood stream. How exciting!
Cayenne is also relatively high in Vitamin A, vitamin B6, Vitamin C, riboflavin, potassium and manganese.
It’s snowing here in Whitefish, Montana today so I decided to make soup to keep me warm and toasty!
Miso Dressing:
  • 1/4 cup miso of your choice (My favorite is South River Miso)
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 1/2 cup high quality olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic (optional)
  • Dash of cayenne to taste (optional)
Blend in blender, serve! It is wonderful tossed in salad, garbanzos or quinoa.
Miso Aioli:

(This is adapted from the New York Times article Umami Dearest by Mark Bittman)

  • 2 Tablespoons Miso of your choice
  • 1 cup Veganaise
Stir miso into veganaise and use within 1 week. Dip yam fries, use on sandwiches, use as a sauce/dip for veggies.
Miso Butterscotch: (This is adapted from the New York Times article Umami Dearest by Mark Bittman)
  • 1/4 cup cashews (soaked)
  • 1/2 cup blessed water
  • 1/2 cup coconut oil, melted (I melt in my dehydrator but it can easily be done on the stove top on low heat)
  • 1/4 cup light miso (I used South River Miso’s Sweet White)
  • 3/4 cup coconut sugar
Blend soaked cashews and blessed water into a creamy mixture. Combine Cream, melted coconut oil, miso and coconut sugar in blender and blend until smooth. If  the sugar is not blending well, it might be helpful to place mixture in a saucepan on stove. Place on low heat and stir until sugar dissolves (probably about 5 or 10 minutes). Add more coconut sugar if needed or even a touch of maple syrup or honey for a truly rich flavor.
This mixture is delicious over poached pears and apples as well as cabbage, eggplant or even over a sorbet.
What is your favorite miso recipe???

Thank you for all of your support!

Love always,
Michelle

Hope you are all well and happy! There’s enough for everyone. If you believe it, if you can see it, if you act from it, it will show up for you. That’s the truth. ~Rev. Michael Beckwith

Greeña Colada

Since I live in Montana, and its cold and snowy outside this time of year, I long for warm beaches and sunny clear skies. But in the mean time I can create my own tropical hideaway in my space by cranking up the heat, practicing yoga and making myself a delicious Greeña Colada!

Greeña Colada:

  • Meat of one coconut (I used the fresh coconut water yesterday for a hydrating drink super drink)
  • 1 banana (or 4 drops of stevia if you want this to be lower glycemic)
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple
  • 1/2 cup cashews (or whatever kind of nut you have on hand – almonds, ect..)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup coconut milk or tea or water
  • 1 Tablespoon Premier Greens Mix
  • 1 teaspoon spirulina
  • 1 drop of vitamin D3 serum

Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth!

Greeña Colada

Pineapple is a great digestive aid because it helps the body break down and digest proteins more efficiently. The enzyme in pineapple that is so amazing is called Bromelain, it is an excellent anti-inflammatory. If you eat 1/2 cup of pineapple a day it is said to provide pain relief by helping to relieve painful joints common to osteoarthritis. In sports medicine, bromelain is used to reduce inflammation and swelling after an injury.

Pineapple is also known to help dissolve blood clots and is an old folk remedy for morning sickness. So go ahead and drink up your Greeña Colada!

In light,

Michelle
