There is no joy without gratitude.
A couple of years ago, my daughter painted this Buddha bowl for me for my Birthday. I love it!
When we sit down to eat together as a family, we each take a minute to write down something that we are thankful for. Then we place what we are thankful for in our Buddha bowl and read them later.
We leave our Gratitudes with no names, all anonymous.
At the end of dinner or during another dinner, we pass the “thankful bowl” around and each person takes a piece of paper out of the bowl. Everyone goes around the table and reads the gratitude they pulled from the bowl.
Its amazing to learn what everyone is thankful for! The warmth and love in the room after everyone reads is so unforgettable.
I have posted some of our gratitudes below.
We are what we think.
All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts, we make our world.
~BuddhaI’m grateful for still having my wits, to some extent, about me.

Miracles occur naturally as expressions of love. The real miracle is the love that inspires them. In this sense everything that comes from love is a miracle.
When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself.
As we cultivate peace and happiness in ourselves, we also nourish peace and happiness in those we love.
~Thich Nhat Hanh You will find as you look back upon your life that the moments when you have truly lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love.

Joy increases as you give it, and diminishes as you try to keep it for yourself. In giving it, you will accumulate a deposit of joy greater than you ever believed possible. ~Norman Vincent Peale
